Statement

Through a multidisciplinary practice that is articulated by the pictorial, sculptural, technological and performative approach, my poetic and anecdotal visual proposals wish to question the limits of normative and rational reading. In a subversive way, I collect, gather, adorn and connect mundane elements in order to create spaces and universes where the illusion of control and acceptance mutually animate. Soft and tenacious, these offerings, like alter egos, seek to express a constant ambiguity between this deep sincerity and the omnipresent secrets that inhabit these fictional places. All driven by the shift in memory that is perpetually veiled, these puzzling stories are inspired by lived experiences and spaces that I have physically lived in and visited. My narrative concepts are to link personal introspection with this chaotic theatricality presenting nebulous and elusive universes. The spectator becomes his own narrator, dedicated to telling himself by trying to elucidate a mystery which, ultimately, is a phenomenon that the viewer naturally nourishes. Thus, the allegory of the image wishes to engage in an intimate dialogue with the viewer. I therefore question the balance of power that exists between the artist, the spectator, the art object and the politicized space of the exhibition spaces. Through enigmatic, even unintelligible assemblages and microcosms, I want to challenge the validation systems used to justify the intrinsic value of the work of art as well as its conformity on an intellectual scale.

Bio

Originally from Drummondville, I am a young emerging artist who began his multidisciplinary undergraduate training in the Faculty of Fine Arts at Concordia University. Following this wheelbase, I am continuing my undergraduate academic career at Laval University where I am currently in the process of obtaining my diploma in visual and media arts. Having, first of all, attended a number of training and workshop courses in Los Angeles, Paris, and Montreal, these multiple experiences have greatly contributed to this versatility through various subjects and practices. Deeply rooted in eclecticism and in anecdotal representation, I offer playful universes where the allegory of the image wishes to engage in an intimate dialogue with the viewer.
