Statement

Lindsay Montgomery’s vessels, puppets, and sculptures are infused with re-imagined and updated myths, legends and allegories from the medieval and renaissance periods. Believing in the power images from this time possess to show us our follies and missteps as humans, she seeks to illustrate new meanings and a new mythology through re-telling narratives and presenting objects from a feminist perspective that views the earth as the ultimate wealth, and divine inheritance that is expanded not limited by tradition. She is a storyteller for these times who blends the past and present to show us the continued challenges we face until we confront the foundation our society was built on, and its inequalities and penchant for greed. Her objects confront these issues through their unapologetic affirmation of the critical importance of meaning, connection, and mystery to our everyday lives and surroundings.
