Statement

Born in 1983, works, and lives in Tehran and Rasht, Iran. In her mixed-media practice, she examines photographs, installations, paintings, but mainly embroidery and considers the fabric as the core of her exploration. The advent of stockings was an essential part of the freedom of women’s bodies. By utilizing the undergarments as an artistic material, she symbolizes erotic desire, femininity, gender, and racial politics. Her imagery is inspired by women’s lives, bodies, and the feminine impulse to nurture. Besides, themes surrounding sexual relations, identity, history, and the essence of feminism are continually explored within her work.
