Silent Stars is Mahsa Merci first North American solo exhibition with works dedicated to the trans experience. By using diverse mediums, painting, sculpture, and animation, Merci aims to show different aspects of gender, identity, sexuality and redefine the meaning of beauty. This exhibition is a teaching moment, reflecting the identities of a part of our global community previously underrepresented,” says Farnoosh Talaee, co-founder of Mayten’s. “Everyone should be able to see themselves, their cultures, their identities, and their passions reflected in our collections and exhibitions. Educating everyone is at the core of our mission.”

Silent Stars will also be included at the year’s Art Toronto. Mahsa Merci will feature two sculptures at the in-person fair October 29-31st allowing visitors to contemplate their biases on identity. The exhibition will be featured online via Artland from Oct 29-Nov 7th as part of the Art Toronto virtual fair.

About the Artist:

Mahsa Merci, born in 1990 in Tehran, Iran, holds a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design from Tehran University of Art and recently graduated with a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Manitoba. Mahsa Merci has exhibited her works in over thirty-five solo and group exhibitions worldwide.

Last year, her works were exhibited in the WOAW gallery during Art Basel Hong Kong, curated by Sasha Bogojev. Also, her works were shown by Mayten’s in The Other Art Fair in Los Angeles curated by Saatchi gallery. Moreover, she was part of a group exhibition shown by Everyday Gallery in Brussel.

Masha’s works are published internationally in Create Magazine, ARTMAZE magazine, and various magazines in Iran, the UK, the United States, Norway, and Germany.
